We went up to Jonesport for a paddle for the first time last summer, it was a beautiful area, but so full of sealsthat I felt guilty. Next time I'll visit later in the summer. (http://penobscotpaddles.blogspot.com/2011/07/beals-island-maine.html) Hermit Island is also an amazing place. mark went there often as a boy, and I love the tiny garnets in the sand. What can I say, there are just so many wonderful wonderful areas to explore in Maine. We spend our winter days planning more trips than will fit into our summers and falls...PenobscotPaddleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16592313025258461946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666730569460347191.post-71602188502374810852012-02-05T08:31:51.959-08:002012-02-05T08:31:51.959-08:00Thanks for your great post, which does make the po...Thanks for your great post, which does make the point that when it comes to Maine paddling destinations, having favorites isn't so easy.

Normally, I say Muscle Ridge and paddling off Jonesport are my favorites. But as you remind me (new favorite) Baker Island and old favorites like the Porcupines aren't so shabby either.

Have you paddled the Jonesport area (Great Wass archipelago)? Maybe we can get a group together and do it sometime.RWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02601227586767531263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666730569460347191.post-17182332376362991672012-01-31T06:54:09.449-08:002012-01-31T06:54:09.449-08:00Nice..Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of sum...Nice..Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer...penbaymanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14539195518644206210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666730569460347191.post-34173934986394648632012-01-27T21:02:26.737-08:002012-01-27T21:02:26.737-08:00I'm so jealous! I've done very little ocean kayaking on the Maine coast (just one trip from Hermit Island campground in Phippsburg), but on my priority list for this year is a trip to Stonington for the better part of a week. I've heard so many good things about the area, I've got to do it this year!Telemarkmikehttp://offonadventure.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6666730569460347191.post-34740378638160534192012-01-27T04:52:13.407-08:002012-01-27T04:52:13.407-08:00Wonderful post!
