A Somber Monday

As some of you have guessed, we are the kayakers who discovered the body of Barbara J. Goodwin in the Penobscot River.  As Trashpaddler noted on a similar occurance, this is something no paddler ever wants to encounter.  Our hope is that she and her family can find peace and comfort.

  1. When I saw mention of the incident and its location in Tuesday's Globe, I did think of the "kayakers" possibly being you guys. As sad as it is, there is also some sort of closure because of your having been on the river that day. The photograph is beautiful and appropriate.

  2. Thinking of you-- I know it must have been a very tough day. But as the other commenter mentioned, you've helped bring closure to the family.

  5. Hi! I'm Barbaras oldest daughter. I don't know where we would be if it wasn't for you. With a lot of questions, I guess. I know it must have been hard to find her or anyone like that. I would like to thank you, for what you have done for her, me and our family. At least some questions are answered for us. Thank you!!

I also apologize for the duplicate comments. Sometimes I act, then think...

  7. As a family member, I am very thankful that you were there and found my sister in the water. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you but I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. If not for you both, it could have been a very long, worrisome winter for those closest to her. Although I have no idea what it felt like in that moment, I want you to know that I believe you were in the right place, at the right time. I pray God sends both of you peace and comfort as you continue on your journey, viewing Maine in your kayaks and seeing the beauty in this world. God Bless.

  8. I hope God sends you and your family peace as well. I feel your sister wanted very much to get back to the love of her family. My email is penobscotpaddles@gmail.com if you need to see anything about this posting changed, and don't wish to leave a public note
